COMMUNITY - CHOREOGRAPHY - COLLABORATION
COMMON is a place where dancers, choreographers and directors work together to create community, choreography and collaboration.
Under the Artistic Direction of Terence Marling, COMMON will provide a world class conservatory program for young dancers on the verge of a professional career.
Drawing on his extensive background in classical and contemporary dance, Terence will provide students with challenging work and a renowned faculty. COMMON conservatory is open to advanced dancers ages 16-25. Each day will include an accompanied ballet class, a second technique (modern, contemporary, gaga, or other) and at least two hours of rehearsal creating new work with COMMON choreographers.
COMMON’s philosophy is to create a space where dancers can launch their careers. With a staff and choreographers who are passionate about bringing your dancing to the next level, COMMON will provide you with the technical instruction, the artistic freedom, the community and the space to attain your dance career goals.
For advanced dancers ages 16-25.
Submit a video audition no longer than 10 min. Include portions of ballet barre as well as a clip of your dancing that you feel shows you well.

No Audition Fee
Start Date: September 3, 2019.
Tuition is $9,500 for a year long commitment
Financial assistance is available.
The conservatory program runs M-F 10am-4pm
The studio is located at The Drucker Center; 1535 N Dayton, Chicago IL 60642, in the heart of Lincoln Park, near North and Clybourn.
Information on housing possibilities is available upon request
International students accepted through an H3visa
All visa expenses must be paid by the student
There will be 4 showings a year of the new work created as well as additional performance opportunities

COMMON seeks choreographers to create with our dancers. COMMON choreographers must be willing to assign some of the ownership of the work created to the cast of dancers involved in the creation of the work. COMMON retains the non-exclusive right to perform the work for a period of two years after its initial studio showing.
