OUR DANCE MISSION

The School of Performing Arts Dance Department seeks to produce dancers that have a full understanding of the physiology and artistry of dancing.  The foundation of the dance training is ballet technique as derived from the best aspects of various techniques from all over the world. Essential to the curriculum and student learning are other styles of dance that embrace a rich and eclectic dance history, including contemporary, jazz, tap and hip hop. At SPA, we intend to create artists. We individually tailor our training towards the goals of each dancer.

The Dance Department is under the Artistic Direction of Terence Marling, former dancer, teacher and choreographer of Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, National Theater Mannheim and Hubbard Street Dance. Terry leads the eclectic SPA faculty and curriculum that is designed and developed to inspire SPA students to be multi-faceted dancers with strong technique and ample creativity. His faculty are led to encourage individuality, strong work ethic and proper technique in order to facilitate the growth of each artist.
