Becky Cooper

Becky received her BA in Dance Performance from Oklahoma City University in 1996. She has been a dance instructor since 1989, teaching first in her hometown of Lubbock, Texas for the United Way, then in Oklahoma, and finally in the Chicagoland area. Becky has been a guest teacher and performer for programs and workshops across the country and internationally. She has starred in several musical productions throughout her pre-professional career, has danced professionally with Chicago Tap Theatre, Especially Tap Company, and was in the original company of Billy Seigenfeld’s Jump Rhythm Jazz Project. Becky has danced on Ed McMahon’s Star Search and was the featured soloist in <em>Mickey’s Starland Show</em> at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, where she sang and danced for thousands of children every day. She has been a dance and theatre instructor and choreographer for the School Of Performing Arts since 1996. Throughout the years, Becky’s choreography for the SPA Dance Ensemble has been consistently acknowledged for its creativity, storytelling, and entertainment value. In 2007 she received the New Voice in Choreography award from Dance Chicago. Currently, Becky is fulfilling her lifelong dream and calling to help children discover how they can use their God-given talents to reach others. She is a graduate student at Wheaton College, studying Christian Formation and Ministry for the purpose of growing and solidifying dancers into powerful spiritual instruments.
