Kit Satoh

Since 2011, Kathryn "Kit" Satoh has established herself around the Chicagoland area as a teaching and performing artist. She has taught violin, voice, and/or early childhood music at Merit School of Music, Sherwood Community Music School, Suzuki-Orff School of Music (now CHIME), Wheeling High School, Chicago West Community Music School, Hyde Park Suzuki Institute, and the First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights. Her Suzuki teacher trainers have included Edward Kreitman and Lucinda Ali-Landing. Ms. Satoh began violin training at age five. Her studies continued with Edward Kreitman and Thomas Wermuth, taking her nationally and internationally with the Western Springs School of Talent Education. Throughout her childhood, Ms. Satoh participated in Midwest Young Artists, was associate concertmaster of Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, and a founding member of Metropolis Youth Symphony. Receiving two Bachelor of Music degrees with distinction from University of Colorado at Boulder in Violin Performance and Voice Performance, Kathryn was privileged to work with renowned artists such as Patrick Mason, Lina Bahn, Nicholas Carthy, and members of the Takacs Quartet. In Chicago, she has been privileged to study with various members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Satoh has performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Grant Park Festival Chorus, and is a founding member of Bow & Hammer, a violin/piano duo.
