Music Department Director / Piano Faculty

A Maryland native residing in Chicago, IL, Rhapsody holds a Bachelors of Arts in Music from DePaul University where she studied piano after attending Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. She has nearly 10 years’ experience as a church musician, accompanist and teacher of both piano and harp. Rhapsody was the Co-Music Director and pianist for Wellington United Church of Christ in Chicago, taught private piano lessons at the Chicago School of Music, and ran her private piano studio with students ranging from age 4-65. Until recently Rhapsody was the Chicago Institutional Sales Manager for Steinway & Sons piano company where she developed and cultivated key relationships with local and national cultural and educational institutions. Rhapsody is dedicated to the promotion and development of not-for-profit organizations and was an On-site Organizer and Board member of Active Blessing Uganda, an orphan relief organization based in Mbale, Uganda that created art therapy and vocational programs for ex-child soldiers. Rhapsody worked as the Program Coordinator for the PianoForte Foundation organizing educational programs, concerts, music festivals and competitions, spearheading the 2010 and 2012 Chicago Amateur Piano Competition in collaboration with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Roosevelt University. She’s spent time working as the Program Director and Teaching Artist for Foundations of Music (formally Rock for Kids) where she managed free music education programming for Chicago Public Schools. As a performer she has played in numerous bands and ensembles ranging from classical to rock to musical theater in such venues as House of Blues Chicago, The Metro, Lincoln Hall, Schubas, Davenports Piano Bar and the iconic Double Door. She has played on WBEZ’s Vocalo 90.7 Live from Studio 10 and been featured on album recordings such as See You Again by The Lifeline and as a harpist on Rachel Eve’s Our Love is Imagined. In the classical sphere she was a part of the Chicago Premier of Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians at DePaul University. She’s been the featured pianist in Chicago theater productions such as It’s A Wonderful Life: The Radio Play at American Theater Company and the Musical Director of Attend the Tale of Danny Tanner: A Full House Musical. As a pianist and harpist, Rhapsody especially enjoys working with people in all genres and has made it her artistic mission to bridge the gap between seemingly differing mediums through improvisational collaboration between dancers, visual artists, actors and writers.
