Performing Dance Ensemble

Ages 8+

The School of Performing Arts Dance Ensemble is a competitive and concert performance group located in Naperville, IL.

More than just a competition group, the Ensemble is designed for young, passionate artists who want to take their performing and dance abilities to the next level. The Ensemble fosters growth by focusing on a strong technical foundation across multiple genres of dance.

Ensemble dancers have the privilege of working with some of Chicago’s finest and highly acclaimed choreographers and teachers.  Dancers will participate in at least 3 competitions/ conventions a season and multiple performances at SPA and outside in the community throughout the year.

Auditions for 2019-2020 Season: April 28th

Jr. Ensemble: 12:00pm - 3:00pm

Sr. Ensemble:  3:30pm - 6:30pm

The Audition will be broken up into portions:

  • Ballet

  • Jazz/Contemporary

  • Tap*

  • Hip Hop*

*these portions are optional but encouraged

Requirements for 2019- 2020 Ensemble Season: To be put into place September 1st, 2019

Rehearsals will only be held on weekends for no more than 6 hours per dancer.

Jr. Ensemble:

PPI - PP II, Beginning to Intermediate or ages 8-10

  • 2 Ballet

  • Stretch and Strength or PBT

  • 1 Jazz/Contemporary

  • 1 Tap OR Hip Hop*

Sr. Ensemble:

PPIII- PPV, Intermediate to Advance or ages 11- 18

  • 3-5 Ballet (depending on PP Level ie. PP 3 takes 3 Ballet)

  • Stretch and Strength

  • 2 Jazz/Contemporary

  • 1 Tap OR Hip-Hop*  

Ensemble students will receive a 40% discount on additional classes outside of their requirements.

 *If you want to be considered for a Tap or Hip- Hop piece you must be enrolled in a tap or Hip- Hop class. If you would like to be considered for both genres you must be enrolled in both with one at the 40% discount.  

All students that are involved in the Dance Ensemble are required to fulfill the requirements (listed into requirements above) of the ballet pre-professional track at their respective level.

The School of Performing Arts believes that ballet instruction is central to a dancer’s success in any genre of dance. The pre-professional program requires a student to be placed in an appropriate ballet level.  All current SPA students will receive ballet leveling through the annual evaluation process.

New students should contact alawason@schoolofperformingarts.com for a leveling class or can be leveled at the Ensemble audition on April, 28th.
