MUSICAL THEATRE ACTING

Overview

Grades 5–12 / Ages 10–18

Students will focus on developing singing, acting and movement skills using a variety of musical theatre performing styles, texts and genres. Using an in-class “acting the song” workshop atmosphere, the foundation is laid to communicate more effectively, the stories, relationships and characters found in musicals. Students will work thru solo, duet and ensemble pieces and the last class will be a Public Cabaret performance by both levels of Musical Theatre Acting Classes.

Join us as we celebrate Stephen Schwartz and create a Cabaret of his music! 

American musical theatre lyricist and composer Stephen Schwartz, who has written such hit musicals as GODSPELL, PIPPIN, and WICKED. He has contributed lyrics for a number of successful films, including POCAHONTAS, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, THE PRINCE OF EGYPT, and ENCHANTED. Schwartz has won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics, four Grammy Awards, three Academy Awards and has been nominated for six Tony Awards.
